Senior source to Al Mayadeen: Iran warns of 'new version of war'

Any miscalculation by US President Donald Trump could have major global consequences, a senior Iranian political-security source told Al Mayadeen, warning that oil markets would “speak to the world in a louder voice” in the event of escalation.

According to the source, Iran is prepared to implement a “new version of war,” adding that “surprises await its enemies” in any future confrontation.

The remarks, repeated multiple times in the report, framed potential regional escalation as carrying direct economic implications, particularly through global energy markets.

The source further suggested that heightened tensions could quickly translate into instability in oil prices, underscoring the interconnected nature of military and economic developments in the region.

New drone used in strikes on US military targets

The statement aligns with developments reported hours later by Iranian media, which highlighted the deployment of new military capabilities during Tehran's latest retaliatory operations.

Iran's armed forces deployed a new attack drone during overnight strikes against US military targets in Bahrain, targeting Sheikh Isa Air Base and a strategic radar facility operated by US forces, according to a military source cited by Fars News Agency on Wednesday.

The reported operation formed part of a broader Iranian military response targeting US positions across the region following American attacks on Iran earlier in the day.

High strike success rate

Fars News Agency, citing a military source, reported that Iranian missile and drone units successfully struck around 70% of their designated targets.

According to the source, long-range ballistic missiles and drones penetrated air defense systems protecting US military facilities across the region. The assessment was reportedly based on preliminary operational data, satellite imagery, and information gathered by Iranian security services.

The source said Iranian missiles and drones struck targets at al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

21 US-linked sites targeted

Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said the operation was carried out jointly by the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in response to a US Central Command (CENTCOM) operation launched overnight.

Washington has said its attacks were conducted in retaliation for what it claims was Iran's downing of a US Apache helicopter.

The IRGC stated that 21 US-linked military sites across the region were targeted during the operation, including F-35 aircraft hangars at al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan.

According to the corps, Kheibar Shekan ballistic missiles were used in the attacks, while four high-value targets were destroyed using long-range solid-fuel missiles.

The IRGC also stated that its air defenses shot down a US MQ-9 drone during aerial engagements over the city of Jam in Iran's southern Bushehr province.

Iranian military officials warned that any further military action against the country would be met with a more forceful response, signaling the possibility of additional retaliatory operations if hostilities continue.
